Who we are

Scanner Bot is a Discord bot that provides two main features:

• Sends RSS-based news alerts sourced from JunctionNow.com to configured text channels
• Streams public scanner audio to configured voice channels

The bot is operated from the United States as a simple utility service for Discord communities.

Eligibility and authority

By using Scanner Bot, you represent that:

• You agree to follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines
• If you are a server owner or administrator, you are responsible for how Scanner Bot is configured and used in your server
• You have the authority to invite and configure bots in any server where you add Scanner Bot

Use at your own risk

Scanner Bot provides informational content only. Please understand that:

• We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any content
• Scanner Bot is not a substitute for emergency services, legal advice, or professional guidance
• You should not rely on Scanner Bot for life safety decisions
• Information provided is for general awareness only

Content sources and AI summaries

The content delivered by Scanner Bot comes from external sources:

• RSS content is sourced from JunctionNow.com and similar public news sources
• AI summaries are generated using OpenAI's API based on that content
• AI-generated summaries can be imperfect, incomplete, or occasionally incorrect

You are responsible for independently verifying any information that matters to you. Do not assume AI summaries are perfectly accurate.

User and server responsibility

Server owners and administrators who use Scanner Bot agree to:

• Ensure that using the bot in their jurisdiction is lawful
• Configure channels and roles appropriately
• Respect the privacy expectations of their server members
• Not use the bot to harass, defame, or target individuals or groups

Prohibited uses

You may not use Scanner Bot to:

• Violate Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines
• Break any local, state, federal, or international law
• Scrape, harvest, or collect the bot's output to build profiles on individuals
• Engage in harassment, stalking, or targeting of any person

Using Scanner Bot for commercial monitoring, data reselling, or similar purposes requires explicit written permission from us.

Service availability and changes

Scanner Bot is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis:

• We do not guarantee any specific uptime or availability
• Features, AI models, or integrations may change or be removed at any time
• We may suspend or terminate access to the bot for abuse, technical issues, or legal reasons
• Service interruptions may occur without notice

Limitations of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of Scanner Bot is not liable for:

• Loss of data, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential damages
• Decisions you make based on alerts or audio provided by the bot
• Actions taken or not taken in response to bot content
• Service interruptions, errors, or inaccuracies

Our total liability, if any, is limited to the amount you have paid for the service. For most users, this is zero.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator of Scanner Bot from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use or misuse of the bot, or from any violation of these Terms of Service.

Third-party services

Scanner Bot relies on third-party services:

• Discord is a third-party platform with its own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
• OpenAI provides the AI summarization capability and has its own usage policies
• Hosting and infrastructure providers process data on our behalf

You acknowledge that these third-party services have their own terms and privacy policies that may apply to your use of Scanner Bot.

Termination

Regarding termination of service:

• We may remove the bot from a server, disable features, or shut down the service at any time
• Server owners can remove Scanner Bot from their server at any time by kicking the bot
• Upon removal, the bot will stop delivering content to that server

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Scanner Bot after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.
